From the moment that a child enters our care, our reunification team springs into action to identify barriers preventing them from living at home, and develop a plan for eventual reunification. Though it’s a bittersweet moment for our childcare staff, who form strong connections with the kids during their time at Happy Family Children’s Village, we love nothing more than seeing a child return to live with family, where they belong.
Suleman entered care as a baby, after his mother sadly died in childbirth in the nearby hospital. He was medically fragile, and though there were times that we thought we’d lose him, he pulled through and grew into a smart, friendly boy who was loved by all of our staff and kids. After years of intensive work, we were thrilled when Suleman could finally be safely reunified with his family earlier this year. We have visited him several times since, and he is thriving at home and in school.
